Corrections & Updates

Places change, facts change and occasionally publications get things wrong. Countrylook distinguishes between correcting an error, updating information that was once accurate, and changing an editorial judgement because new evidence warrants it.

Correction, update or judgement?

  • Factual corrections

    If a published statement is demonstrably wrong, we want to know. Significant factual errors are corrected in the article or page concerned. Where the correction materially changes the reader’s understanding, we may add a visible note explaining what changed.

  • Updates to changing information

    A hotel may change ownership, a restaurant may appoint a new chef, an attraction may alter its opening arrangements and a business may close. An update does not necessarily mean the original reporting was wrong. We revise time-sensitive information when it becomes material to the usefulness of the page.

  • Editorial judgement

    Reasonable people can disagree about a review, recommendation or interpretation. A difference of opinion is not a factual correction. Countrylook may revisit a judgement when substantial new evidence or a meaningful change in circumstances warrants it, but editorial conclusions are not rewritten merely because somebody dislikes them.

Awards and reassessment

Countrylook Awards are dated because recipients and destinations change. Questions about medal reassessment, anonymous judging and the evidence used for an award are governed by the How We Judge methodology.

How to request a correction

Please send the page URL, the statement you believe is incorrect, the correction you are requesting and, where possible, a reliable source that supports it. This gives the editorial team enough information to investigate rather than simply exchange opinions.

What happens next

Countrylook reviews substantive requests against the published material and available evidence. Straightforward errors can be corrected directly; more complex disputes may require additional research. We do not promise that every request will lead to a change, but genuine factual challenges should be examined properly.
